Sand, sea, hammocks and partying!!!

Hey kids!!!

How’s it all going??? As of now we’re now back in Thailand, and it feels almost like we’re back home after being away from the familiarity of Thai people for a month. After dealing with an interesting journey over from Siem Reap to Bangkok (first 4 hours being pure bumpy roads), and despite my reservations of staying in the tourist trap that is Khao San Road, it was quite refreshing to finally be in a hotel that didn’t have a shower with metallic water that caused rust to occur on your nails, and in a country that allowed you to remain sweat free for more than 5 seconds!!!

The last week we’ve been staying on the islands on the Gulf side of Thailand where its pretty much been us chillin’ like a huge bunch of villains!!! Almost a shock to the system in fact, that a lot of the time during the day I didn’t know what to do with myself!!!

Sunset at Ko Phangan
(Sunset in Koh Phangan)

Arriving on the party island of Koh Phangan, where it seems that 80% of the tourist population seem to be from the UK, Jhon and I managed to have our first night for partying in 5 weeks. Was a good chance to meet up with some ol’ pals from before, and safe to say that the buckets of joy (literally bucket of Thai Whiskey, bottle of redbull and a can of coke) were flowing freely, and the random music that was playing was enough to make me shake my bootaaayyy, and suffer from a dirty hangover the next day, resulting in the poor staff at our hotel running out of mango juice as I drank them dry due to severe dehydration!!!

Haat Rin Beach, Koh Phangan
(Myself and the girls at Haat Rin beach)

The main extravaganza that was the Full Moon party was an experience…by 8 the streets were rammed full of people, and the main beach (Haat Rin Sunrise beach) was crammed full of partygoers, and a somewhat strange sewagey smell in some parts!! Managed to bump into quite a few people from 5 weeks ago, which was nice, and an excuse for partying. So many people, so many Brits (felt like I was at home!!!), so much music, and alcohol..but the main thing is was it any good??? With Jhon somehow impersonating the Duracel Energizer bunny and dancing solidly for 4 hours, YES it was worth it just because we were all entertained by his interesting dance moves that would have put John Travolta to shame!!!! And for staying up in time for the sunrise at 6am, YES it was worth it, even if we were all ready to passout and sleep. However I have to say, the night is very overrated. By the end, the beach was a tip, with a sea of people passed out on the sand, and bottles floating in the water…goodness only knows where all the mess goes.

Yours truly wasn’t that worse for wear, although I had a very interesting heated discussion with a thai guy in our truck/taxi, that resulted in us getting dropped off on some random road, and then us walking 10 minutes through trees, amongst stray dogs and mosquitoes and goodness knows what else, before reaching our hotel…WAS NOT HAPPY!!!

Anyway, moving on, that now brings us to Koh Tao, where most of the people from Koh Phangan have ventured to for diving. In comparison to its neighbouring island, the beaches are less packed, its smaller, and very very relaxed. Not that I’ve been relaxing much as we all rented out kayaks for 4 hours yesterday to make it over to Nangyuan to snorkel for a few hours. The fact that we were oblivious to the choppy sea didn’t help matters (one way took us 1 hr and 15 minutes), but once we arrived it was all worth it as the water was blue and clear, and lots of little fishes swimming all over the place!!! Was a bit worried we wouldn’t make it back to our resort with the sea and lack of energy I had, but after working the arms and shoulders for another hour, we treated ourselves to a well deserved thai massage!!! First time for one of these babies, and was not expecting the pummelling that I got, but loved it so much that we signed up for a thai massage class, which we completed this afternoon…so as well as a thai cook, I can now throw in a massage for you’s lot too!!!!

Tomorrow we boat it over to Koh Samui, for one night before heading down to Penang in Malaysia. Quite glad as I’m completely done with Thailand now, and am ready to move on somewhere else at last.

Despite my money being eaten away over the last week, I have recently taken up to shopping like a mad woman again, and I’m in serious need of retail therapy…so god help me and my backpack once we hit Kuala Lumpar…at the mo the backpack looks like its overdosed on steroids, but despite the sniggers from Jhon and co, I is still going strong…just gonna have to think up something quick for when we next board a plane!!!

Backpack
(The backpack…too fat and heavy to carry!)

Right guys, thats all for now…as always, will keep you posted.

Love lots
